On Monday, July 11, 2011 His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian visited the City of Montreal and met with the newly elect Chairman of the City Council Mr. Harout Chitilian. Primate Galstanian expressed his great joy and congratulated Mr. Chitilian upon his election to the prestigious office of the Chairman of the City Council and conveyed his well wishes for every success to carry his new responsibilities in the life of Montreal municipal politics.
The Chairman of the City Council thanked the Primate for his encouraging words and unwavering support. Also on this occasion, issues of mutual interest were discussed including the outcomes of the bilateral agreement signed between Montreal and Yerevan last October 2010.
During the visit at the Chairman’s Office in the City Hall, Primate Galstanian performed the traditional House Blessing ceremony upon the rituals and canons of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church. Accompanying the Primate was Dn. Hagop Arslanian, Director of the Governmental Relations Office.
