Minister of Diaspora visited St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal

On May 3, 2015, Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan, the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia attended Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral, within the framework of the working visit to Montreal. His Excellency Armen Yeganian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, accompanied the Minister during her visit.

After the Liturgy, the Minister met with His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, Pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Parish, and members of the Parish Council. On this occasion, a reception was prepared by the Parish Council.

During the meeting, the Primate highlighted the positive outcome of the Ministry of Diaspora’s programs, such as Ari Doun, PanArmenian Games, etc., and informed the Minister about the ongoing activities and plans of the Diocese.

After the meeting, Minister Hakobyan, along with numerous religious and political leaders, participated in “The March for Humanity”, which brought together more than 10,000 participants who walked for 100 minutes in the streets of downtown Montreal to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, other crimes against humanity, and to express the importance of preventing the crime of genocide in the future.
