On Thursday, April 9, 2015, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church Canadian Diocese met Dr. Andrew P.W. Bennett, Canada’s Ambassador for Religious Freedom in Ottawa at Saint Paul University. H.E. Mr. Armen Yeganian, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, joined Primate at the meeting.
The guests were welcomed by Very Rev. Peter Galadza, Acting Director of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies in the Faculty of Theology, Saint Paul University. Very Rev. Galadza invited the guests to partake in a service dedicated to the Holy Resurrection.
During the meeting with Ambassador Bennett, Primate Hovakimian praised the establishment of the Office of Religious Freedom at the Foreign Department of Canada. His Grace highlighted importance of Canada’s consistent stance with regard to the protection and promotion of rights of religious communities worldwide, especially in the wider Middle East.
The Primate invited Ambassador Bennett to participate in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and Ambassador Bennett confirmed his participation.

His Grace Bishop Hovakimian invited Ambassador Bennett to visit the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Canada in Montreal.
