MONTREAL: On Sunday, August 14, Reverend Father Vasken Boyajyan, Pastor celebrated Holy Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal. Deacons and acolytes served the Holy Altar and the Komitas Choir sang the Divine Liturgy. In is sermon, Rev. Father Boyajyan said “On this Feast Day, we remember and honour St. Mary, the Holy Mother of God who exemplifies sanctity and virtue. This day is dedicated to all mothers who are called upon to lead a life filled with Christian values, to nurture and nourish their young with God’s Word. This Feast Day is dedicated to the Holy Apostolic Church, a mother-figure for all her faithful. For centuries, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has been the golden link between the earthly and heavenly life”.

Der Hayr Vasken expressed his gratitude to the donors of the grapes and those individuals who helped with the Grape Blessing preparations. At the conclusion of the service and with the participation of the clergy and the deacons, Rev. Father Boyajyan presided over the traditional Grape Blessing ceremony.

TORONTO: On Sunday, August 14, 2011, St. Mary’s Assumption Day was celebrated in Holy Trinity Armenian Church. Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian, Pastor of the church celebrated the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by the church Deacons and Acolytes. The beautiful prayers were sung by the Church Choir under the direction of Mr. Shahe Altounian with the accompaniment of Mrs. Sona Artinian on the organ. All community members with the name and names relating to Mary were invited by Fr. Zargarian to receive special blessings from the Holy Altar.

At the end of the liturgy, the ceremony of blessing of the grapes took place at “Magaros Artinian” Hall of the church, followed by BBQ lunch organized by the dedicated and hardworking members of Holy Trinity Armenian Church Parish Council and Women’s Guild. We thank everyone involved in making this day a successful festivity where families and friends joined together to have a special day of prayer and a wonderful time.

MISSISSAUGA: On Saturday, August 13, 2011, the parish of St. Vartan Armenian Church of Mississauga celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Myron Sarkissian with the participation of Deacon Aram Mirzoyan and Deacon Van Vanes, and junior altar servers. During his sermon Der Myron explained the important role of St. Mary in the Armenian Church history and in the history of the Christian Churches.

It’s been tradition at St. Vartan Parish to celebrate the feast on Saturday, and on Sunday to participate the pilgrimage to St. Catharines St. Gregory Armenian Church. Families gathered on Sunday and joined the pilgrimage to St. Catharines, where they met with Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, and the newly appointed Armenian Ambassador in Canada H.E. Armen Yeganian and family.
