Beloved Faithful Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This morning, September the 27th, 2020, Azerbaijani armed forces, as a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreements, initiated a large-scale attack along the entire line of contact, bombing peaceful settlements in Artsakh, including the capital Stepanakert. The fighting continues and unfortunately, there have been victims among the civilian population.

The Clergy of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, the Diocesan Council, and the faithful express their full support to the Motherland, the Republic of Artsakh, and the Armenian Armed Forces. We beseech the help and blessing of the Holy Cross of Varak to be granted upon our peace-loving nation.

We urge our faithful in Canada to be vigilant and not succumb to provocations. Today, as always, we need to stand together in the face of aggression by Azerbaijan.

In this challenging time, the people of Armenia and Artsakh need our prayers and support. The Armenian Apostolic Churches in Canada have been instructed to hold a prayer for safety and victory in Armenia and Artsakh, which will take place on Tuesday, September the 29th, 2020, at noon.

May Our Lord keep Armenia and Artsakh under His Divine gaze today and forever. Amen!

Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate
