On Sunday, April 17th, 2011 Palm Sunday celebration was held in St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Montreal. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, Pastor. The chant of the service was performed by “Komitas” and Children’s Choirs. The Children’s performance was noticeably impressive especially for their parents and among numerous numbers of parishioners. We appreciate the Choirmaster Varujan Margaryan, who prepared the children with this high quality performance, accompanying with the church organist Mrs. Houry Bedrossian.
After the ceremony of the opening of the Great Door His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate performed the Children’s Blessing.
Holiday Luncheon was followed at the “Marie Manoogian” hall, as of the previous years the traditional fish meal was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Krikor & Rose Dikranian.
After all, the presentation of CYMA took place, a demonstration of slide show that played after the luncheon, describing the youth trip to Armenia and their accomplishments.
The Palm Sunday celebration was ended up with the prayer of Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
Holy Thursday’s divine liturgy offered by Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, Pastor, in remembrance the last supper of our Lord Jesus Christ. All Parishioners have received Holy Communion with the participation of A.G.B.U Golden Age members. At t the end of the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan read the divine words of Parsegh Geserats. Afterwards a decent luncheon was held at the “Vatche Hovsepian” hall.
On the eve, foot washing ceremony offered by Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, 12 students from A.G.B.U Alex Manoogian School were chosen to participate in this ceremony. A traditional Lent dinner was held. Later the Holy service continued until midnight.
The ceremony of Good Friday was celebrated commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his Death. The Tomb of Christ decorated with an abundance of flowers was carried in procession through the Stuart Avenue around the Church accompanying with hymns and Bible readings. Every parishioner with great faith and devotion walked under the Tomb of Christ by accomplishing their vows.
On Holy Saturday morning at 10 am Fr. Vazgen offered Holy Communion for parishioners.
On Saturday night, Easter eve and requiem memorial services for commemorating to the victims of Armenian Genocide were held near the monument at Marcelin Wilson Park.
On Sunday April 24th Easter celebrated with great joy symbolizing the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate offered the mass and the sermon of the day accompanying to him Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, Pastror, with deacons, and acolytes.
The singing performed by “Komitas” Choir, directed by choirmaster Varujan Margaryan, having organist Mrs. Houry Bedrossian.
After the service, Easter Baskets Blessing was held; soon afterwards the procession with the leadership of the choir went into the Diocese, where the Primate Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan accepted Easter felicitations.
A marvelous traditional Easter Luncheon held at the “Marie Manoogian’ hall, where more than 200 parishioners gathered to enjoy the delicious types of foods that were prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Church. Thanks to the ladies who worked very hard day and night to accomplish the mission of our Church, to have such a wonderful Easter celebration with great success and joy.
