St. Vartan Armenian Apostolic Church of BC community participated the Holy Week on Palm Sunday and Turnpatsek ceremony, the Ten Virgins, the Last Supper Divine Liturgy, and the commemoration of the Washing of the Feet & Khavarum (Christ Suffering and Crucifixion) and Christ Entombment ceremonies as well as the Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Divine Liturgies was celebrated, and all Holy Week ceremonies was led by the Pastor Archpriest, Rev. Father Keghart Garabedian accompanied by the deacons, acolytes, choir master Mr. Arman Hosepyan, v. choir master Mr. Ashod Merdinyan and the choir members.
After the Turnpatsek ceremony we had the Sunday School students and the faithful, palm leaves and crosses in their hands, which symbolize the Triumphed Entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into the city of Jerusalem, follow the procession to Setrak Kalpakian Hall.
As in the previous years, the ACYOC prepared the palm leaves and crosses and the traditional Palm Sunday fasting meal.
With participation of over 160 faithful we celebrated the Divine Liturgy the glorious feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. For this occasion our Ladies Guild served delicious food and colored eggs. Chocolate Candies were distributed to the kids.
On Sunday, May 1st, joint Divine Liturgy, St. Vartan and St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, commemorated the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Day. The celebrant was V. Rev. Fr. Housik Martirosian and the sermon was delivered by Arch Priest, Rev. Fr. Keghart Garabedian. Following a procession of clergy and the faithful outside St. Vartan Church, a requiem service was held at the Genocide Khatchkar.
For this occasion, Madagh was blessed and distributed to the congregation at Setrak Kalpakian Hall in memory of 1.5 million innocent, martyred Armenians, who were massacred by the Ottoman and Young Turks between 1890 and 1923.
