Ottawa Armenian community celebrated Holy Badarak on the occasion of St. Sarkis the Warrior and His Companions on Sunday February 20th.

Der Myron Sarkissian, our visiting Ottawa Parish Priest was the celebrant for the Holy Liturgy on this occasion.  The Primate, Bishop Bagrat Galstanian was also present and participated in the service with the assistance of Deacon Ivan Gyadayan.  Our Parish has been blessed in the past year to enjoy the newly formed St. Mesrob Church Choir, whose members have been studying under the direction of Marlene Iskedjian, and the musical accompaniment of Michael Tourabian.  This long anticipated addition to our Church services has finally become a reality and their dedication and perseverance is much appreciated by our community.

Immediately following the Church Service, as is customary the hospitality hour with coffee and sweet table was offered for all to enjoy and have the opportunity to visit with friends and acquaintances.  This is a cherished tradition that marks our sense of community.

Also on this date, the 2011 General Annual Meeting for St. Mesrob Church was held under the auspices of Primate Galstanian.  Although small in number but a very faithful group of members were present for the meeting.  New initiatives for St. Mesrob Church and the community were discussed, culminating with Bishop Bagrat’s presentation of the planned Canada wide Diocesan celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia.
