Canadian Parliamentary Delegation visits Armenia to Further Strengthen Growing Friendship
|
 A high level delegation comprised of representatives of the four major political parties of Canada will attend an official visit to Yerevan September 6 through 10, 2010 for bilateral discussions with the officials of the Republic of Armenia. The Canadian parliamentarians’ initiative highlights the growing strength in the friendship between the two countries. Members of Canadian Parliament participating in the visit are Harold Albrecht- Conservative and Chairman of Canada-Armenia Friendship Group, Rob Oliphant-Liberal, Nicole Demers-Bloc Quebecois, Tony Martin-New Democratic Party. In Armenia the group will be hosted by His Excellency Hovik Abrahamyan, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia. The visit facilitated by the Canadian Armenian community provides an opportunity for the members of parliament of Canada to familiarize themselves with the current and ongoing progress of the nation since the establishment of the country’s independence in 1991. As part of this working visit, the agenda includes meetings to promote deeper understanding of issues in the region, explore prospects for long term growth, and discuss development and co-operation. The Canadian Parliamentarians are committed to work at fostering improved relationships with the Republic of Armenia. As Chair of the Canada-Armenia Friendship Group, Mr. Harold Albrecht, Conservative Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Conestoga - in the Region of Waterloo, possesses a deep appreciation of the Armenians and their difficult journey, and considers this trip as an opportunity “to better understand not only the issues of the past but to grasp the current opportunities and challenges that face Armenia”. Mr. Rob Oliphant, Liberal Member of Parliament for Don Valley West views this visit as an occasion to build bridges between the two countries “forging relationships that will be prosperous in every way for both countries.”
Mme. Nicole Demers, Bloc Quebecois Member of Parliament for Laval said she “looks forward to once again visiting Armenia and building on her knowledge” from this new experience. Mr. Tony Martin, NDP Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie looks forward to meeting with political, business, labour and community leaders to see first hand how they deal with issues of poverty, the environment and human rights. He sees “building relationships of understanding and learning from each other are an important part of creating peace and stability everywhere.” Hagop Arlsanian and Hrag Tarakdjian will be accompanying the delegation to Yerevan. The prospects for this official visit demonstrate a strong affirmation of Canada’s consistent policy to promote friendship and understanding to seek opportunities for bi-lateral co-operation. |

Canadian Youth Mission to Armenia 2010
|
The 2010 CYMA mission to Armenia was accomplished by 13 Canadian Armenian youth who restored the hall of a school in the village of Keghatir in Armenia. The mission extended from July 12 to August 13, and led by Rev. Fr. Myron Sarkissian and Mr. Bedros Kokorian. The work of this undertaking began with the blessings of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate upon his visit to Keghatir.

Children’s Fund for Armenia meeting in Hayastan
|
On July 19, 2010, His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian met with the representatives of Children’s Fund for Armenia. The Primate discussed supplementary initiatives, other than financial, to further provide for the needs of the children by making educational and spiritual development available to them. |

Divine Liturgy celebration in Cap de la Madeleine and Picnic at Ste-Quentin Provincial Park

On Sunday, July 25, 2010 Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor of Holy Cross Armenian Church of Laval led the annual visit of a group of pilgrims from Laval parish, to one of the shrines dedicated to the Holy Mother of God in Cap de la Madeleine-the Basilica of Notre Dame , Trois - Rivière. Around 150 faithful left to Cap de la Madeleine, east of Montreal and near Trois Riviéres early Sunday in the morning. |

Primate Galstanian meets His Holiness Karekin II and the Right Honourable Tigran Sargsyan, visits Armenian Communities in Tbilisi and Javakheti

His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Armenian Church Canadian Diocese met with His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, leading more than 130 Canadian Armenian Youth for a visit to the Republic of Armenia. His Eminence was accompanied by Reverend Fathers Zareh Zargaryan and Der Myron Sarkissian. On Sunday, July 25, 2010, His Eminence celebrated Divine Liturgy in Holy Etchmiadzin, where from Canada alone the 130 Armenian youth were in attendance. Following Holy Badarak the Canadian youth delegation, accompanied by Primate Galstanian was granted the opportunity for a private visit with His Holiness Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and received the blessings and the benediction of the Armenian Pontiff. |

A remarkable group of youth will be traveling to Armenia once again this year, and we are proud to welcome each and every one to the CYMA family. |

A Spiritual Journey to Jerusalem

 Of the vast destination possibilities available throughout the world, ten young individuals set out on a spiritual journey to Jerusalem on June 6th, 201, under the leadership of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan They knew it was a place that had significant importance in their religious lives but for the most part, they were unaware of the extent of the role Jerusalem played in their Armenian heritage and identity. This voyage, not only a pilgrimage, was enlightening. The historian Kevork Hintlian, accompanied the group and explained the history of the Armenians in Jerusalem, bridging the past with the present. |
